Painting By Numbers / Aspidistra
painting by numbers?
no, not exactly
no! not exactly...

easy to imagine
difficult to see
I don't need, I don't need
I don't need, I don't need your sympathy

it seems pretty underhand
what you did to me
I don't need, I don't need
I don't need, I don't need your sympathy

it will all come together
I will find my way
I don't need, I don't need
I don't need, I don't need your sympathy

easy to imagine
impossible to see
I don't need, I don't need
I don't need, I don't need your sympathy

and the window being open, shows the sky far away
but the balustrade keeps us locked in
to make us dance all day
to make us dance all day
why must we keep on dancing
we've had enough, enough dancing

Notes
Lyrics written by Geoff Mann.
Released on the MSI CD issue of Smiling At Grief.
Painting By Numbers is actually only the introducing two lines. The song Keep The
Aspidistra Flying
was played many times before, instrumentally, with Electra McLeod, and with
Geoff. I don't know exactly when Geoff introduced the Painting By Numbers part, but it could not
have been very often.
This particular version also includes the last couple of lines from Three Dancers.
