Info
This is the release many fans had been waiting for; the definitive TN collection. To cram the releases as full as possible, the three formats it appeared in (MC, 2LP, and CD) contain different track listings. Most interesting are the re-recording of Love Song and, even more important, the first ever proper studio recording of magnum opus The Collector. Obviously my favourite TN track - I named this website after it!

In June 2003, I found a white label promo 2LP! Same version as the 2LP obviously, but with white labels. Also there is no album sleeve, but a colour photocopy of the front cover instead. The back of the colour photocopy has "GRUB 18" written on it. The records have "GRUB-18-A" through "GRUB-18-D" scratched in the final groove next to the label, as with regular LPs.

The front cover shows a painting by Geoff Mann, titled "The Poet Sniffs A Flower". This, however, is only mentioned on the sleeve of the 2LP and MC, not on the CD.

The album is a compilation, but all formats contain two newly-recorded tracks, both recorded in 1989. The first is a re-recording of Love Song, the other is the first official recording of The Collector, one of the last tracks written when Geoff was in the band.

New Recordings
Magic... The legendary line-up of the band re-unite for a recording session, almost five years later. When plans were made for this compilation album, fortunately people got the idea to record the still unrecorded The Collector. After Geoff left in November 1983, the band played this track a couple of time with Andy Sears on vocals, and stated they liked Geoff's lyrics but weren't too happy with some of the musical bits. I am so glad they didn't change anything!

Re-issues
The Polish release is illegit. To keep it on a 74 minutes disc, they removed Sequences from the original track listing.

After a long time of unvailability, Cyclops / GFT re-issues the album in August of 2001. Because the Live And Let Live version of Sequences is easily available, it was decided to replace the track with three "new" tracks. First there is a studio version of The Ceiling Speaks which has never been released before. I am not sure, but I think this was recorded for a demo for CBS Records. The LP version of Last Song was already on the 2LP version of Collectors Item, but this is the first time it is being released on CD. Deep In The Heartland has never been released before, in any version. I don't know yet which version is on this CD.
